T-Mobile has announced plans for permanent layoffs that will impact 393 employees in Washington state. The telecommunications giant submitted a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) to the Washington State Employment Security Department, detailing the upcoming job cuts.
According to the filing, the layoffs are expected to begin on April 2, 2026, and will affect employees across multiple locations, including Bellevue, Bellingham, and Bothell. The company noted that these separations will be permanent, with no plans to reinstate the impacted positions.
In a statement to KING 5, T-Mobile said, "Amid the next step in our evolution, we’re making some changes while continuing to hire to ensure we have the right focus, structure and momentum." This reflects broader adjustments within the company as it seeks to realign its workforce.
The announcement comes as other major tech companies, including Amazon, have also disclosed plans for significant staffing reductions. In a similar filing, Amazon stated its intention to eliminate over 2,000 jobs in Washington state by late April 2026 as part of broader layoffs impacting 16,000 employees company-wide.
The layoffs at T-Mobile and other tech firms highlight ongoing shifts within the sector as companies navigate changing market dynamics while restructuring their organizations. While details about potential support for affected employees remain unclear, these developments mark a challenging moment for Washington’s tech workforce.
